Veerangna Awanti Bai College, Chhatarpur (M.P.) was established on 09/07/2001 affiliated to Dr. Hari Singh Gour University Sagar, the institution is a co-educational college. The college has strived to maintain excellence and braced itself to meet the challenges of present day educational requirements. Efforts have been directed at upgrading & expanding the infrastructure, augmenting the amenities for students, attracting qualified manpower, streamlining the administration and enhancing capabilities of our students. The college envisions pursuing academic excellence, providing a platform for all round development of students and evolving into an institute of higher learning offering standards of national level. It is endeavor of the institution to effectively implement the curriculum prescribed by the affiliating university. For this a proper admission policy is formulated and the academic session follows the academic & institutional calendar, with periodic academic audits. This institution offers Under Graduation- in B.A., B.Sc., B.Com, BCA, BBA, B.Ed and at the Post graduate level- M.A., M.Com, M.Sc. and M.Ed. In addition to this Certificate Courses- UG Diploma – BJC, B.Lib and PG Diploma- PGDCA Functional English at UG & English at PG level are also offered. However, English as a subject is compulsory at the UG level. 

 

The admission process is totally transparent, streamlined and time bound. The sole criterion for admission is merit in the qualifying examination, with an additional weight age of 5% to the reserved category students. Periodic evaluation of the students is carried in theory subjects with a provision of continuous assessment in practical papers. Over the years attempts have been made at increasing the actual teaching days by rationalizing & curtailing the vacations. This institution employs qualified & experienced faculty, around 70% of who are with research degrees. The appointment of the faculty is carried by the Dr. Hari Singh Gour University as per UGC norms. Teaching faculty is encouraged to participate in research & professional development activities. Students are offered various support services through different cells/committees. A Women Studies Centre also functions in the college to attend to the gender related issues. The overall pass percentage of the college is among the best in the province.

Though the institution lacks major research infrastructure, nonetheless, few faculty members have been awarded major & minor research projects. A number of plantation drives, blood donations and communal harmony activities have been undertaken.

Students are encouraged to participate in co-curricular & extra-curricular activities. Our students regularly participate in inter college/university/state level events and the college supports their participation. Financial assistance & scholarships are also disbursed among the students. A proper programme calendar is followed for all student related activities. Student participation is encouraged in all activities and an election for class representatives is conducted under supervision of the college administration.
